New Open Burning Ordinance Adopted

Penndel Borough Council has adopted a new open burning ordinance (2026-01).

What is type of open burning is permitted:

Cooking Fires: Small, attended fires for cooking in approved devices as set forth accordance with other federal, state and local ordinances and/or regulations.
Ceremonial or Recreational Fires: Small attended fires for recreational or ceremonial purposes such as fire pits and chimineas

What type of materials/items that are not permitted to be burned:

Rubbish, garbage, trash, or plastic.
Tires or rubber products.
Treated or painted wood.
Insulation, shingles, or construction debris.
Hazardous materials or materials that create heavy smoke, offensive smoke or odor emissions or toxic fumes.

As always, please be respectful of your neighbors with any open burning and do not leave any fires unattended.

The Penndel Borough Zoning Hearing Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 7:30 P.M. at the Borough Building, 300 Bellevue Avenue, Penndel, PA, to consider the following application: 2026-02, filed by Lotus 201 W Lincoln LLC for property located at 201 West Lincoln Highway, in the RC Retail Commercial Zoning District. The Applicant is requesting a variance from Section 405-18, Table 54: Warehousing, to use the property for industrial storage (non-hazardous material) and warehousing. A copy of the application is available to view on the Borough’s website, https://penndelboro.com. All interested parties may attend the hearings and will be given an opportunity to be heard. Persons with a disability who wish to attend and require an accommodation to participate should contact the Borough at 215-757-5152.

Snow Emergency Declared

A Snow Emergency has been declared by Mayor Sodano effective at 12 noon on Sunday, February 22, 2026. The Snow Emergency will end on Monday, February 23 at 12 noon. All vehicles parked on designated Snow Emergency Routes must be removed from the roadway. Snow Emergency Routes are listed below.

SEPTA is considering developing the south parking lot of the Langhorne SEPTA Station. An Open House will held by SEPTA representatives on Monday, March 23 at 6PM at Penndel Borough Hall
