Penndel Borough Council has adopted a new open burning ordinance (2026-01).
What is type of open burning is permitted:
- Cooking Fires: Small, attended fires for cooking in approved devices as set forth accordance with other federal, state and local ordinances and/or regulations.
- Ceremonial or Recreational Fires: Small attended fires for recreational or ceremonial purposes such as fire pits and chimineas
What type of materials/items that are not permitted to be burned:
- Rubbish, garbage, trash, or plastic.
- Tires or rubber products.
- Treated or painted wood.
- Insulation, shingles, or construction debris.
- Hazardous materials or materials that create heavy smoke, offensive smoke or odor emissions or toxic fumes.
As always, please be respectful of your neighbors with any open burning and do not leave any fires unattended.
